Senior Litigation Attorney (Texas)

This hybrid position will focus on managing complex litigation matters related to mortgage banking, financial institutions, real estate, and foreclosure law. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of legal strategies, a strong background in litigation, and experience in both state and federal courts. The position offers a hybrid work environment, allowing for a flexible balance between in-office and remote work.

Primary Duties:

  • Prepare essential legal documents, including pleadings, legal briefs, motions, appeals, contracts, and other documentation for litigation in various Texas courts, including District, County, Appellate, and Federal District Courts.
  • Manage financial services, mortgage, and real estate litigation cases from referral to resolution, including written and oral advocacy, motion practice, discovery, depositions, ADR, trial, and appeals.
  • Work collaboratively with a team of attorneys to strategize on complex cases and ensure timely case progression.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of litigation experience, with a focus on financial services, mortgage, and real estate law.
  • Proven ability to handle complex cases and develop strategic legal solutions.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Texas State Bar license (required).
  • Licensed to practice in both state and federal courts in Texas (required).

Litigation Attorney (Texas)

The candidate will handle a caseload comprised of mortgage and real estate related litigation matters for established multi-state law firm on behalf lenders, mortgage servicers, and investors.

Primary Accountabilities:

  1. Research and analyze legal resources such as the Texas Constitution, statutes, recorded judicial decisions and legal articles to prepare case strategies.
  2. Prepare pleadings, briefs, motions, notices, judgments, etc. during the course of the case. The attorney will responsible for cases from referral through disposition, settlement or verdict.
  3. Attend basic court appearances in the State of Texas, i.e. status conferences, dismissal dockets, minor prove-ups, etc.
  4. Provide legal advice for the Firm’s mortgage servicing clients and investors.
  5. Ability to exercise professionalism and courtesy when faced with adversarial situations, as well as exude excellent customer service (internally and externally).
  6. Work effectively with a team of attorneys and staff within Litigation Department and other practice areas within the Firm.
  7. Additional responsibilities may include, but not be limited to the following: review and respond to debt disputes, ensure legal compliance regarding state and federally required notices, reinstatement or payoff quotes, loss mitigation, escrow disputes, and to complete any necessary curative methods to provide the client with clear title.
  8. Perform additional duties as requested.

Skills/Experience:

  1. Doctor of Jurisprudence from accredited School of Law.
  2. Licensed to practice law in the State of Texas.
  3. Minimum 0-3 years legal experience, preferably in the mortgage or banking industry.
  4. Ability to maintain and thrive in a high-volume practice.
  5. Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask.

Legal Assistant (Arizona)

Primary Responsibility:

Responsible for assisting Attorneys in preparation of required legal documents, pleadings, drafts, or correspondence, legal research, responding to client requests, tracking file locations, preparation of status reports to clients, and provision of other administrative assistance required for efficient department operation, drafting correspondence, and responding to difficult inquiries from clients or courts.

Principal Accountabilities:

  1. Prepares required drafts of legal documents, pleadings and correspondence as directed.
  2. Requests missing documents, run PACER and SCRA searches and orders reinstatement/payoff figures.
  3. Organizes and obtains information needed for lawsuit files and coordinates co-counsel to facilitate hearing representation.
  4. Organizes on-line files, coordinates hearings, requests fee authorizations and manages multiple calendars.
  5. Enters relevant legal information into the client vendor systems to provide current status and document backup.
  6. Maintain electronic case file with all legal activity. Includes imaging documents and processing vendor invoices.
  7. Conducts communications with clients, borrowers, courts, and external parties as necessary or as directed by an attorney or manager.
  8. Performs all other duties as requested.

Position Preferences:

  1. Two to four years college in business, finance, or related field.
  2. Five plus years experience in civil litigation, mortgage banking, or real estate law.
  3. Excellent Communication and PC skills with the ability to adapt rapidly to a variety of systems.
  4. Must be able to manage workflow in a highly-active, high-volume environment and perform multiple duties simultaneously.
